The Skandia Sail for Gold event was part of a month long sailing extravaganza based in Weywouth. Competitiors came from all over the world to compete in events that finally culminated in the Sail for Gold Olympic Test Events.
Max WIFi were called in very late in the day to provide their expertise and skill in implementing WiFi and fixed Internet services across the venue.
There were 5 telephone lines available and it was a very large site, so the Max WiFi Technicians set to work running cables all over the site including the Media Centre, Host Broadcaster in the TV compound, Production and Race Control.
The Max WiFi Technicians provided on-site support for the last three days and were highly involved in re-building the network to provide BBC Red Button with a solution to ensure that the service would work after a sateliite failure.
Paul Vernon, the Venue Manager for the Sail For Gold Regatta was full of praise for the services Max WiFi provided throughout the event.
"Firstly may I thank your team for all your hard work over the past few weeks - you always had the cards stacked against you with the lack of bandwidth available on Portland. Add to that that the satellite truck could not deliver anywhere near the available bandwidth we were promised and you performed miracles!
On Saturday we were able to service the press office, deliver live pictures and radio to the RYA website, stream to the BBC website, keep the bridge happy and keep the competitor lines functional without so much of a murmur of slow speeds from anyone - your help in achieving this is very much appreciated by me and everyone involved.
I look forward to working with you on future projects."
